SHOPPING, SUNLIGHT AND ART

This past weekend Wicker Park was the center of Renegade Craft Fair - a much
awaited and celebrated annual event for Chicago’s hip and artistic. For one day
hundreds and hundreds of artists from around Chicago, the Midwest and even
farther gathered to display their unique handmade goods - exotic gold flecked
soaps, infused cocktail mixes, wacky flavored salts, pop poster art and dog apparel.

I had a great time shooting this wildly eclectic mix of pop up tents, lifestyle artist
and quirky food and flower trucks. This event draws young families refusing to let
go of living in the city, swank couples and groups of friends all eager to discover
local artisans. It was a true people watching extravaganza with a steady parade of
pampered dogs, full limb tattoos, wild clothing patterns, vibrant color and infinitely
interesting people buying the unexpected item they never knew they wanted.

Chicago’s street fairs like the Renegade Craft Fair make a neighborhood rich and
layered. Wicker Park is one of the hottest areas in the city and the influx of events
and cultural retail like this make it even hotter
