25 Lessons in 25 Years: Part 4/5 – Our Approach

In our 25 years of business, we’ve learned a lot. It’s been especially interesting to discover things about ourselves and to learn new ways to do the work we do.

Every agency has a different way of doing things, and best practices change from year to year. You can’t stand still in this industry. We’re always reinventing the way we do what we do. The business we have today is certainly not the business we started with. Here are a few of the things we’ve learned about the industry and our approach to it.

  1. Integration is integral. When you start blending all the right elements of media, content, and people is when marketing starts getting good.

  2. We have to be agile. The world is changing all the time, and we have to change with it...quickly.

  3. Differentiation and positioning are the first steps to marketing – and sales. It’s not just about being different for the fun of it. To sell, a business must be able to prove that what they’re offering to the market is unique and valuable.

  4. Do the work that best serves the client. It’s not about doing what we want to do just because we want to do it, but doing the work that fits the client completely and helps move them to greater things. This is good advice for our clients too, when they get distracted by their own products instead of focusing on their customer.

  5. Become friends with Failure. Making and learning from mistakes leads to big wins.

We hope you’ve enjoyed these lessons. Stay tuned for one more set of them before the end of the year!
